Help with large commits on CENT OS 4.4

Hi all,
I'm trying to perform a commit with a very large number of files
(12,405). These are all very small files, however as I'm submitting them
via the mod_dav_svn, I notice that my memory usage keeps increasing until I
have 0% left. At this point my commit dies. I've tried both the rpm
install 1.1.4-2, as well as compiling the latest stable 1.4.2 from source.
I do not have the Berkley DB back end. If I compile the source with the DB
back end, will this solve my problem? Also, where can I find an example on
doing this? I've managed to figure out ./configure --with-apxs, however I
don't know enough about the Berkly DB to get subversion compiled with it.

Thanks,
Todd
