What happens before the black screen? Does the server go through the
boot sequence? Can you start the server in "safe mode" so that it loads
the minimum number of drivers, etc.?

Maybe I'm misreading your message: has this happened before? What did
you do to get it working again?

Sometimes hardware failures require a full power recycle (off/on) to
reset. Tried that yet?
