It's not the answer you want to hear, but it really does help to take
a few hours over a weekend and read the http://svnbook.org/ . It
should help you understand how Subversion works; it greatly helped
me. There's even an appendix designed for CVS converts, which may
help you avoid some of the pitfalls and misunderstandings CVS users
commonly experience when first using Subversion.
