RE: (Tortoise) SVN Repository Backup problem

Hi Madan,

Yes, I am the only person using the Repo. Officially, we have ClearCase
and we are not allowed to use Snapshot Views. Hence I have to use some
other Version Control Tool like CVS or SVN. And I need it to maintain
my local Intranet Website, served from my workstation itself.

So, all I want is a "moveable" Repo - I should be able to copy the Repo
to any other location and I should be able to browse the Repo in the new
location using TortoiseSVN and also use it. So I am not able to do what
you have said

> You can take the repo home, keep checking in, bring the repo back,
keep checking in at work too. We are only talking about a repository
used by one person on a movable storage media here.

I tried the SVN dump and load too. I was able to get the dump but not
able to load it back as a Repo

Thanks and rgds,
Watson

You can take the repo home, keep checking in, bring the repo back,
keep checking in at work too. We are only talking about a repository
used by one person on a movable storage media here.

Are you the only person using the repo? If thats the case, all you
have to do, is to store your repo on some re-writeable media, and take
adequate backup of the medium. But I suspect your problem is more
complex than that.

With whatever experience of svn I have, I think what you need is
offline working...

   What you need is probably...

   - is a working copy to take home, make changes (note, not revisions)
   - bring back the working copy to work
   - diff between your working copy and the current repo
   - merge and commit.

Pl. let me know if you need anything in specific reg the above. You
could reach me on irc - freenode server, #svn channel.

Regards,
Madan.
