It's the right place to report it, yes. I expect that if anyone had
it working properly, they would respond and say so. The absence of
responses suggests nobody can get this to work?

I hadn't responded because our Subversion server is still on 1.2.3
(waiting for 1.3.0 to be marked stable on x86 in Gentoo Portage) and
we only have a single repository. I suppose I could try a test setup
though...
