There were some recent changes to the Apache HTTPD (the obscure
technical details are that a certain combination of internal buffers
wasn't handled quite right) that might (theoretically) have caused
problems like this. If you could try out the current development
version (from https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/httpd/trunk) and
see if that corrects your problem I'd appreciate it. I believe this
was backported to at least one of the release branches, but it
definately hasn't been released yet, and I'm not sure precisely where
it was backported to, so you'd be best off just trying the trunk.

Note, this is kind of a shot in the dark, since it's virtually
impossible to say if this problem would manifest exactly this way, but
hey, worth a shot.
