Bundles?

It's been awhile since bug #707 was last commented upon, and I haven't seen a lot of discussion since then about SVN supporting 'bundles', or opaque folders. This would seem to me to be a serious problem under Mac OS X, and maybe other systems as well, yet not too many people seem to be complaining.

Is there really a good workaround for this? Other than, say, tarring up any bundle files (like, say the Resources folder in my project) and checking those in? Is the standard technique to use some sort of scripts that do this automatically on check-in and check-out? What do Mac developers do at this point?
