svn client unable to checkout repository via http but is accessible from browser

Hi,

I've got a repository set up and can browse it via http. However, when
I try to access it with the svn client, I get the following error:

svn checkout http://(mywebaddress)/svn/website/trunk
subversion/libsvn_ra_dav/util.c:780: (apr_err=220001)
svn: REPORT request failed on '/svn/website/!svn/bc/1/trunk'
subversion/libsvn_ra_dav/util.c:368: (apr_err=220001)
svn: Unreadable path encountered; access denied

My guess is a problem with the binary on my platform (Mac OS X). I have
yet to try the same thing using svnserver, but will probably try it
tomorrow. Just thought I'd drop a line and see if anyone had any ideas
off the tops of their heads.

Please note, this exact same URL works just fine in a web browser.

Any idea what might be the problem?
