I don't want to keep this going, but I think I owe it to Karl
to say that in my 15 years on different mailing lists Karl
is far and away the most patient person I have encountered.
I've only been lurking here for a couple of months learning
subversion, but even in that time I have seen the same 5 or 6
questions asked every two weeks on the list, and answered
by Karl with impeccable politeness and enthusiasm.

I kept a couple of his mails as examples of good netiquette,
and to remind me to drop him a line and compliment him on it,
but I'm afraid I never got around to it, so I figure this is
as good a time as any!
