RE: Error when building SVN 1.2 on Solaris 8

like this?:

pkginfo | grep -i keyword

for the record, make sure that the stuff in /usr/ccs/bin isn't in your
path, and get all the relevant GNU tools installed. Also, I build
everything with shared libs - lots of the stuff off of SunFreeware doesn't
do that and it ends up biting me in the butt.

doing these things, I've been able to get just about everything to work.
even ClearSilver (for Trac) which is evil to configure on Solaris.

and yes, I like apt-get 1 hojillion times better than pkgadd.

They're on the "Solaris 8 Software CD 2 of 2"; the "Advanced Installation
Manual" has a (badly organized) list of all the software packages on the
CDs. I've not found any good way to find stuff except read through all the
descriptions. It looks like most of the development stuff is on the "2 of
2" CD.

Steve, who just spent an hour tracking down the C header files.

PS Can someone explain why all the paid professionals at Sun haven't been
able to come up with an package management system that even comes close to
apt? It's not even as good as AIX/SMIT, where I can least search for
keywords...

"Outlook not so good." That magic 8-ball knows everything! I'll ask about
Exchange Server next.
