Thanks for the helpful replies! I have managed to resolve this
(installation) problem. It turns out that installing the swig svn py
bindings with fink, but the rest without is definitely a problem. But,
it was not the only problem....

I have compiled as compact and useful a document as I could, describing
how to install Trac and all its dependencies (including swig,
subversion and swig svn py bindings) from source, on OS X without Fink.
Intentionally, this installation also uses the stock python and stock
apache installations on OS X, and omits installing the berkeley db....
