Kevin Bentley is writing a Subversion book for Addison-Wesley as well,
and his instructions were more or less the same as those, but with
explanations and caveats -- All told, a much more useful source.
However, also not searchable on google groups :)

At risk of sounding like a shill, when that book is published, I
highly recommend it -- it was phenomenally useful to me. No more
AARGH! :)

Thanks to everyone that answered me -- All is now just dandy here.
