svn: Can't recode string

Hi!

I already read about that the following error is related to an encoding
problem:

"svn: Can't recode string"

So I changed the locale on my Gentoo based Linux System to "de_DE.UTF-8", but
I still don't get rid of this error message. I want to check in some data
copied from a windows xp system.

Any idea what's wrong?
