scn:externals - Working copy not locked problem

Hi

Is this a defect or am I doing something wrong?

I have a module in the repository with an svn:externals property referencing
another module (named component). I change the externals property to point
to a different branch of component and commit. I then update which should
update component to the specified branch. I get the error:

Fetching external item into 'component'
svn: Working copy 'component/src' not locked

src is a directory within component. A clean checkout works ok.
