Thanks to those replied.

Solution:

I upgraded gcc from 2.95.3 to 3.4.1 and recompiled:

        o Apache 2.0.50
        o Subversion 1.1.0 RC2
        o BDB 4.2.52
        o Neon 0.24.7

That fixed the problem.
