If you are going to get another machine (you hinted you would if you were going to run the
Subversion server on Windows) try Fedora Core 2, it shops with Subversion and works well. You don't
even have to go to a third party to get the binaries. See
http://www.subversionary.org/subversionary.cgi/ServerSetupFedoraCore2

If you run yum regularly you will get updates as well.
