Ooh, nasty bug. Thanks for discovering it... this is *exactly* why
released an RC1 tarball... so folks like you can find bugs in new
features.

I've filed this as issue 1986:

Maybe we can fix it today, and get the fix into RC2 tomorrow. I'll take
a look closer. It might be easy.
