Okay, that's definitely bad. I'm personally stumped, short of having you
try re-running "make install-swig-py" to see if it's a bad case of gremlins.
(Or maybe the dingo ate your libs... :)

Oh yeah, and if it magically works now, do the symlink thing this time too.
But follow CMP's advice about putting them in the site-packages dir. I did
a double-take at my last post and realized I dropped them into the base
Python install. whoopsie...
