Well, if installation is so difficult on your Linux distro, maybe you
should change to another one? Installing subversion in Debian Sid, for
example, is a simple matter of:

        apt-get install subversion

or similar (depending on what exactly you need, of course). If you're
using package supplied by your distribution, and they don't work well,
then it's hardly the Subversion developers' fault.
