I'm answering the reverse of your question, in hopes it might be useful.

I'm running subversion on a Mandrake 9.1 server (mdk and winxp clients). No
subversion RPMS for mdk9.1, 9.1's apache was too old, etc. mdk9.2's contrib
directory has subversion, but it was an old version at the time. Had to
backport latest apache2 srpm from mdk9.2, create mdk9.1 srpm for subversion
from 9.2 contrib, update code in the subversion srpm, build the binary rpms
for apache and subversion, and update a few other supporting rpms to get it
all installed.

It all works great and I'm confident I can repeat the process as subversion
updates occur. However, it seems for Mandrake your workload to stay up to
date may be higher that one of the other distros more directly supported by
the subversion team.
