Can't create repository, Berkeley DB error

From: Rick Brice <Rick.Brice_at_comcast.net>

I'm having trouble creating a new repository. I recently built Apache
2.0.48 and Subversion 0.33.1 from source and all seemed to go according
to the install instructions.

I created a folder called /usr/local/repos where I plan to store my
repository. When I use "svnadmin create /usr/local/repos/test" I get

svn: Berkeley DB error
svn: Berkeley DB error while creating environment for filesystem
/usr/local/repos/test/db:
Function not implemented

I'm using Red Hat 9 with the kernel kept up to date with up2date. I'm
reading the FAQ related to this issue
(http://subversion.tigris.org/project_faq.html#redhat-db), but am
confused as how to resolve it.

When I type printenv, LD_ASSUME_KERNEL is not listed so I assume it is
not set.

What can I do to resolve this issue?

Thanks,
Rick
