Is there a negative impact with many repositories instead of one large one?

Hello,

The subject says it all, I hope. My basic reasoning is that for my components I might like to actually have one repo per component rather than several components in one repo. And, I'm talking about scaling to many components/repos - hundreds or even thousands of varying sizes (though, certainly, other factors may creep in to require splitting between >1 server etc). Or is there any other reasons why this would be a bad move?

TIA,

ken1

Everyone else has a cool sig, so I have a feeble one.
