TortoiseSVN repo browser doesn't work with MS Card Reader

I'm trying to browse an SVN repository that requires usage of a PKI card.
After inserting the card and then attempting to browser the repository
(that I have already done a previous check-in to), it prompts me to insert
my card which I already did. The Ok button is disabled so I select
Cancel. I generally have to do that a couple of times and then it asks for
my PIN. Once I do that it either hangs TortoiseSVN or it goes back and
asks for my card again, but it never accepts the PIN.

Note that if I am just adding/committing a new file to the same repo, I get
similar messages asking for a card (that is already inserted). The
difference here is that when it asks for the PIN and I enter it...it will
accept it and commit the file.

How can I get the reop-browser to work with card?

My system is Windows 7 64bit, DELL Precision M4800, internal card reader.
