There are several open source disk recovery tools, for example, Recovery is
Possible and Super Rescue CD. Been many years since I last needed to use
one, but it saved me from a stres induced migraine headache.

"mapped" - You use "map" to do that? "map" is a network services utility.
Maybe "subst" would be a better tool to use:

        subst p: c:\path\to\project
