SourceForge, "wrong" downloads and ... the future?

Hi!

Regarding the recurring threads about "Wrong" download links for TSVN, it seems the issue reached critical mass in recent days.

But first a notice: this is semi off topic for this list, I suggest all debate goes on somewhere else (see below).

It has links to some other cases (notepad++ ,GIMP, VLC, Nmap...).

Most of the articles have a commenting feature, so if no "common" place covering the story exists, I suggest commenting on those web pages (instead of this list).
