a couple of weeks ago, I have already asked about possible reasons for this
behaviour:
I have a repository on a server and multiple working copies on several
computers. They all access the repository over ssh with a private key. I
have TortoiseSVN 1.7.7 (Build 22907, 64 bit) on my computers running with
Windows 7. If I update the working copy, I have to enter the passphrase for
the private key once, then the working copy gets updated - everything fine.
However, some time ago I added a tablet with Windows 8.1 and installed
TortoiseSVN 1.8.8 (Build 25755, also 64bit). After checking out a working
copy, I found that I had to enter the passphrase now for four times at each
update, but only one time for each commit.
When I asked first, I got the answer that the reason could be with externals
- however, there are no externals, and in addition I also changed the
advanced settings to not include externals - with no difference.
To find out more, I deinstalled TortoiseSVN 1.8.8 and installed Version
1.7.7 instead on the tablet. I then checked out a small section of the
repository into a new working copy - and I found that after the initial
checkout, I had to enter the passphrase only one time for an update. I then
deinstalled version 1.7.7 and installed 1.8.8 again, and after upgrading
this test working copy to the new version, I again had to enter the
passphrase for four times to update the working copy.
I also observed that only after entering the passphrase for the third time,
the Tortoise status form showed the lines "Command Update" and "Updating
C:\Users\[.]". After entering the passphrase for the fourth time, the
download of updated files starts.
Can you point me at possibilities how to debug this problem? Is there a
possibility to see what is happening in each call of the repository? If I
turn the debug option in settings on, there is only one call to TortoiseProc
shown as an alert, but then the passphrase is required four times, with no
further alert for a call of TortoiseProc.
