Take a look at SVNMonitor (or I think it's now called Vercue) - it comes in
both a free and "paid" editions (he's the boss - so if he likes it he can
buy it) and you configure rules to monitor repositories and then take action
when it spots a difference - which for "a boss" - who won't really be doing
anything with the repo and probably just wants to make sure things are
ticking over, might be just the ticket.

It's a bit like configuring rules in Outlook - so when it detects a server
repo update you can then get it to email you to tell you what's changed etc.
