Make depth sticky does not remember choices in UI

Trying to use the update depth configuration for sparse checkouts, and it does not seem to work well when I go to re-configure it.

So I configure a sparse checkout by choosing a SVN -> update to revsion, and under update depth set it to working copy and choose items (make sure some are un-checked), and make sure make depth sticky is set. The proper items seem to be checked out. when I do a plain update, the proper items are updated.
However, when I want to change what items are included in the sparse checkout, I go back to "update to revision", and select "choose items" under the update depth section, and everything is checked again. I would expect the boxes to be checked/selected the way I had them checked/selected the last time I configured the sparse checkout of that working copy.

What am I not understanding right?
