Thanks! That was what I was looking for.

It does seem to be a particularly unfriendly choice of names though.

What user is trying to do: Incremental-checkout, i.e. "Keep current revision but add new files to it"

Command required: Update-item-to-revision which sort of implies "Keep current file set but change the revision".

I believe "Incremental checkout" really is the term people use for this operation but I couldn't find any reference to it in the documentation.
