Thanks for the log file!
It shows that the temp file that's created by the shell extension is
read by TortoiseProc, but then nothing.
So where does that error come from?

Check-for-modifications does not use a temp file to pass the paths to
TortoiseProc, so I guess that's why it succeeds.

How does the error dialog look like? Does it maybe say something else
than just "access to ... was denied"?
