1.7.x repo browser windows showing spurious folders

I have reproduced this on repos going back several years, Tortoise 1.6.x does NOT show the issue, 1.7.0, 1.7.2:22327 (latest 7/12/2011) all do. It is repo specific and completely repeatable. Some repos always have this issue, some never do. The problem repos are all small ones - with a couple of dozen document files. The more complex repos with 1000's of files seem to be Ok as far as we can tell. (We haven't checked all repos as we have many of them - most non active.)

When first opened, the repobrowser will show a spurious nested copy of the trunk/tags/branches folders - see clip attached. Hitting refresh at the top level will get rid of them. Re-open tortoise - they come back. If you browse to the url with chrome or IE - the spurious folders do not exist. Ditto if you use an earlier (1.6.x) version of tortoise.
