That was the repo I used this last go-around, but I'm pretty sure I
have the exact same behavior with a repo for which the answers are
three, zero, and no, respectively. I double-check this.

I'm wondering if it's the fact that I have two certs in my certificate
store so that the "Select Certificate" dialogue pops up, albeit
erratically, as described before. Do you have more than one cert in
your store?
Since we're running low on possible explanations, let me mention one
minor detail which might prompt a thought:
My server has an expired certificate, so every time I blow away the
auth cache, I get prompted to accept the server cert,which I do,
permanently. This seems unlikely to be related to the crashes since
the crashes occur not just on the first attempt, but I thought I'd
mention it for completeness.

I'll try the nightly build containing your latest fix when it comes out.
