Also, it could be argued that the "^" shortcut doesn't really represent the repo associated with the WC in the sense that spongman's using it--he later clarified that he meant that the dialog was ambiguous because "repository" could refer to two different paths in the same repo, one of which is the repo path associated with the WC. As we all seem to agree now, there's only one repo involved, and spongman's contention is that it's the multiple paths within that repo that are confusing. Since "^" refers to the repo itself, not to any path within it, it's simply a shortcut for typing the URL to the one and only repo root, and the full repo path associated with the WC is *not* used. You still have to specify the path yourself (e.g., the /MyProject/branches/MyFeature part).
