Check-for-modifications (and commit) slow with svn:externals

Hi folks,

we experienced a performance issue after updating TortoiseSVN from 1.6.x
to 1.7.0-RC1.

In our repository we have directories (lets call it A) which use
svn:externals to integrate other directories (B, C) of the same repo in
this directory.

When I select B and C within the directory A and call
Check-for-modification the performance seems to be ok (< 2 seconds).
But when I call Check-for-modification of directory A the function needs
about one minute. During that time it uses much CPU and I/O.
This issue also applies to the 'commit' call behavior.

A second issue is, that once started this function cannot be canceled.
Pressing the cancel button does not have any reaction before the
procedure returns, which needs the same time.

Both methods seem to show correct results.

Anybody knows what happens there? Looks like a bug to me.

Greetings,
Franz
