There are reasons to upgrade your server to 1.6 (other than you won't get security updates or help for 1.4). The best reason is to fully support merge tracking. the other reason is for the storage efficiencies added to the fsfs file storage with sharding and shared file storage.

I know if it ain't broke don't fix it is popular... but then why upgrade clients at all either?
