Protect India's coast

Hi,

Our leaders back track on their promises so easily! They promised to keep our coasts safe and now they are planning to build over 300 ports in the vicinity of biodiversity rich coasts across the country.

These areas come under CRZ1 under the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) notification. They consist of mangroves, inter tidal mud flats, breeding and spawning grounds for turtles, horseshoe crabs and other marine creatures. Along with several other organisations, Greenpeace is asking the environment minister Jairam Ramesh to stop the construction of new ports and expansion of old ones in this area.

I have already written to the minister asking him to protect our coasts as promised. More letters will put more pressure on the minister to act.

Can you also write to the minister?

http://greenpeace.in/turtle/no-more-dhamras

Thanks!

deepan.deepan@gmail.com<
