Icons displayed in Windows Explorer

After I installed TortoiseSVN 1.6.8, Build 19260 on my Windows XP
machine (Windows XP ver 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600) and
rebooted, I could no longer see the TortoiseSVN icons on files and
folders. The right-click menus still displayed the appropriate options;
but there were no more green checks, red exclamation marks or anything
on the files or folders in SVN.
