TortoiseSVN strange issue

Hi, all

Hope someone can give me a hint.
I run TortoiseSVN 1.6.4 on XP Pro machine. Subversion is also 1.6.4
SVN server runs on the Linux FC6 (yes, I know it is old and will be
upgraded soon) machine.
Files are placed on Linux machine and are accessed through Samba.
Windows sees it as network drive.

Issue -- TortoiseSVN for some reason does not want to work on file
level. For example, I have modified a file and want to to commit it.
File does not have any icon overlay and
if I right click on the file and try to see if there were any changes,
I get empty window as if nothing changed.
If I go one directory up, I can see overlay icons on directory and it
is always shows that directory is up to date.
Right-click on the directory, check for changes and it happily shows
list of changed files and I am able to commit, revert, compare, etc...

Any ideas why Tortoise will not work on the file level?

Thanks a lot,

Rudolf
