Browser displays inaccessible subfolders

User U has r access to folder A and subfolder B, but no access to
subfolder C.
In the browser, at URL for A, U can see icons for both B and C (though
contents of C will appear empty).
If U does update to a disk directory for A, U will get subdirectory B
and its contents but no subdirectory C.
Is there a way to configure so that C will not be visible to U in the
browser?
(So what U sees is what U gets...)
