I have the same issue. The explorer was not loaded correctly, I only
got a black screen with my mouse pointer.

I've startet a MSDaRT 6.5 Rescue DVD and renamed the TortoiseSVN
folder and booted my "dead" Windows and now everything is working
fine.

Stefan, do you know why this happens?

Until a this:

DON'T INSTALL THE LASTEST 1.6 NIGHTLY!!!!

I had to reboot in safe mode, move the TSVN folder in a temp dir, reboot (fine), move back TSVN, uninstall and reboot: everything worked fine. (I could not uninstall in safe mode: I tried but got a message that the uninstaller service was not running).
