Cannot get TortoiseSVN client to work with Bitnami Redmine SuSE VM using SVN+SSH protocol

I've posted this issue to the Bitnami forums here:
http://bitnami.org/forums/forums/redmine/topics/cannot-get-tortoisesvn-client-to-work-with-bitnami-redmine-suse-vm-using-svn-ssh-protocol

Basically, I cannot get tsvn to work with subversion via svn+ssh
protocol on the openSuSE-based virtual machine image(vmdk) that
Bitnami offers. A linux based svn command line client works fine, but
tsvn fails with "Network connection closed unexpectedly".

I've posted a fair amount of detail on the problem at the link above.
