Can't ADD files to repository

Dear Bug Fixers,

I have encountered a problem. I have been through all the preparation steps
on your website and cannot find any reference to this particular problem. I
am using the current version of TortoiseSVN, downloaded yesterday and
checked today.

TortoiseSVN version:

TortoiseSVN 1.6.2, Build 16344 - 32 Bit , 2009/05/09 13:46:29
Subversion 1.6.2,
apr 1.3.3
apr-utils 1.3.4
neon 0.28.4
OpenSSL 0.9.8k 25 Mar 2009
zlib 1.2.3

Operating System:

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, 32-bit Service Pack 1 (Build
6001)

What I did:

Saved a new file (in a directory I had previously checked out from
TortoiseSVN);
Right clicked on filename;
Clicked on TortoiseSVN=>ADD.

What I expected to happen:

A window to appear saying that the ADD had been successfully completed, with
an OK button to click.
Then I could right click the name again and COMMIT the file.

What actually happened

When I clicked ADD, the window disappeared and nothing else happened.
When I right clicked the file name again, there was no COMMIT command in the
window, meaning that I cannot commit the file.
I have tried this repeatedly, with this file and another created for the
purpose. Outcome is the same each time. I hope you can help me,

I have applied to join the users mailing list in a separate e-mail.

Many thanks,
regards,
George Barrett
