Explorer.exe responsiveness?

Hello:

I have been using your excellent subversion client for more than a year, however I have been encountering a usability issue the past few months it seems.

Whenever I do an update against my source tree, the other windows and the windows shell itself (explorer.exe) seem to be come very sluggish for the duration of the update. I have a 2GHZ dual core processor with 3GB RAM.

I'm ignorant on how the application is structured internally, however, is there some way to have more of the work done outside of the main windows explorer process so it doesn't impact other applications running on the machine?

Currently I'm running the following version under Windows XP professional SP3.
TortoiseSVN 1.6.1, Build 16129 - 32 Bit , 2009/04/10 08:14:05
Subversion 1.6.1,
apr 1.3.3
apr-utils 1.3.4
neon 0.28.4
OpenSSL 0.9.8k 25 Mar 2009
zlib 1.2.3

Sincerely,
Matt
