Working copy without local repository copy

Hello,
I know the "keep a local copy of the unmodified repository files" is usually a feature of Subversion, but for some of my working copies I would like not to keep that copy; the files are large and don't change frequently, so it's taking up a sizable part of my HD.
So, would it be possible to have a working copy without the repository copy in the .svn folders?

Thanks in advance,
Joao
