There is no need for you to loose your edits. Checkout to a different
folder... then do a file compare with something like WinDiff or beyond
compare to copy your edits into the new working directory.

The problem is that this project has been stale for quite some time and
now
I've modified some of the files since migrating the repo. (bad
decision, I
know) So doing a new checkout would require some hand editing that I'm
not
confident I could do completely correctly. By my understanding, a
"relocate" is exactly what I need.
