The Windows Task scheduler executes applications in a separate session.
It has to, otherwise it couldn't execute a task if no user is logged on.
That means that tasks executed by the scheduler don't have access to the
session of the currently logged on user (ask yourself: where would it
show the UI if multiple users are logged on?).

This works on pre-Vista because there the sessions are not separated,
but on Vista they are for security reasons (that's also why on Vista,
services can't show an UI anymore - they're running in session 0).
