What is the difference between Release and Break lock in the context menu?

Hi,

When I right click on a file locked in my working copy, I can see
Release lock and Break lock in the context menu. What is the difference
between Release and Break lock in the context menu? The both menu bring
up the Unlock window. I thought that Break lock means "svn unlock
--force" but the menu is only displayed for a file I have locked in my
working copy and I don't have to unlock --force for the file to break
lock.

Sorry for this novice question but appreciate your help.

Thanks,
