Stefan indicated that this is exactly the problem that they tried to
address by making this change that you don't like. Users would select
several revisions from the Log, highlighting 123 - 138. After clicking
OK, they would look at the resulting revision numbers and see something
they didn't select! They would naturally end up thinking things like,
"Argh! Error! I didn't pick that!" So, they would go and re-select,
and still get the wrong thing.

Instead of forcing users to learn what you've learned about SVN, the
current UI allows them to see the revision numbers they actually
highlighted, then merge the right changes.
