from what I've heard, the next Windows version will have this improved
so we may be able to create a handler for all file types. But of course
that's all completely unconfirmed.

There *is* such an item in the TSVN context menu. As I mentioned before:
it's called "check for modifications".

And btw: don't assume that we haven't tried and searched all possible
ways to get that feature also for Vista.
