How to Handle Versioning a Log File in an App's Source

From: David G <jamdavidg_at_gmail.com>

I'm sure this is a common question, but my searching didn't pay off.

I have a small app that I have in version control (SVN) that appends
regularly to a log. I don't want the log file versioned. Well,
except for the first initial version, when it was pretty much blank.

If I version it, then delete it, then commit (so that SVN thinks it is
deleted), won't it then delete it if I do an update? I don't want
that.

Thank you,

David
